Private Fostering

BISP will be promoting awareness around Private Fostering.

What is Private Fostering?

When a child under the age of 16 (or 18 if disabled) is cared for by someone who is not their parent or a 'close relative' for 28 days or more (Children Act 1989 s.66 England). pdf icon Private Fostering [948kb].

Prevent is an important part of the Government's counter-terrorism strategy

Through the Prevent process we all have a duty to refer people who are vulnerable to being drawn into extremism. The Home Office have recently updated the referral form to ensure a consistent approach across the country. Training around Prevent is mandatory for all Council employees and is available through the e-learning portal called 'Safeguarding Against Radicalisation - The Prevent Duty'. Speak to your line manager about accessing the training.
